Holiday Weekend Brings Late Spring Storm
FOLSOM (CBS13) - Nine-year-old Fatima Auces and her sister Renata just wanted to ride their boat, dive into the water and swim, but didn't get to do much of that so far this holiday weekend.
"I couldn't swim more because the rain came," said Fatima. "We had to be packing up and we were all in a hurry."
The traditionally fun, outdoor, three-day weekend is getting off to a soggy start for those trying to enjoy local Folsom Lake Saturday.
"I'm really cold, it's just that it rained so hard that I had to put a jacket on," said Renata.
Their dad had a better outlook.
"When the sun was out there, we were just having fun. When the rain came, we have fun too," said Jose Auces. "I mean look at us. We're all wet."
Rained out, for some it was a bit dangerous.
"We're ending it 45 minutes early," said Derek Szempruch.
Szempruch and his girlfriend were out on a major canoe trek before the weather struck.
"The waves were a little bigger, and once we saw lightening we decided we should get off the road or get off the water," said Szempruch.
They got to dry land just in time to enjoy a rainbow over the water.
"Yeah, not too fun," said Renata.
As for the Auces sisters, it's little consolation, but they'll deal with it and head home.
