Hit And Run Driver Slams Into Carmichael Apartment Complex
CARMICHAEL (CBS13) - Investigators are searching for the driver of an SUV who fled after smashing the vehicle into a Carmichael apartment.
The driver was apparently trying to turn into the driveway of the complex on Marconi and Mission avenues but lost control and slammed into an apartment with a young family inside.
Witnesses say the driver got out of the SUV and into a white Mercedes that arrived at the site of the crash.
The family living in the apartment, including a newborn baby, was unhurt but shaken.
Crews have boarded up the home.
Officers say the cab of the vehicle smelled of alcohol and that may be why the driver took off.
