Heavy Rains Cause Street Flooding Across The Sacramento Region

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Heavy rains in Northern California caused flooding on some roads and triggered an urban and small stream flood advisory for the Northern San Joaquin Valley on Monday.

In Stockton, police blocked traffic entering the area of Kelly Drive near West Hammer Lane after the area flooded. A portion of Mariners Drive, which runs along Interstate 5, also flooded.

In the foothills, a flash flood warning was issued for areas affected by the Butte Fire burn scar. It urged anyone living near or traveling on roads along Jesus Maria creek and the Calaveras River -- especially from Whiskey Slide to Highway 26 -- to be alert for probable Road problems due to flooding, rock, and debris flows.

The warning was set to expire just after 10 a.m.

Authorities urge drivers to stay out of flooded areas because there could be hidden dangers on the roadways.
