Grass Valley Has Two Dead Bodies Show Up In Same Week

GRASS VALLEY (CBS13) - It's the talk of the town, two suspicious deaths in less than a week.

On Sunday 58-year-old Charles Aimo was found dead outside his home, which is still sealed with crime scene tape.

"He was real friendly," said Grass Valley resident Spencer Weiss.

Then Thursday morning in memorial park, 49-year old Leann Shuffield was found naked near a dumpster.

"You couldn't help but like her," said longtime friend Ester Phillips.

Phillips says Shuffield lived a troubled life and sometimes did drugs.

"I think she was murdered because of drugs," said Phillips.

And, police say the area where Shuffield was found is known as an after-hours drug hangout.

"We have stepped up patrols for that very reason," said Captain Rex Marks, Grass Valley Police. "The drinking, the illicit drug use, has been certainly a significant factor in this park in the past."

The unusual double deaths investigations have many seeking more details, even though detectives are releasing few facts.

"The police department needs to come up with something, and be able to give us some information as to what is going on," said Weiss.
