Girl Fights Off Abduction Attempt From Masked Man

TRACY (CBS13) – Authorities in one San Joaquin County school district are warning parents to not let their children walk home from school alone after a girl reported fighting off an attack from a masked man.

Azariah Abdul-Haqq, 12, said she was walking with her 80-pound Rottweiler about a block from her home and school in the Mountain House community on Saturday when a man wearing a mask that appeared to be from a horror movie got out of his truck and began chasing her.

"I hear running footsteps and it doesn't sound familiar, so I look back and his hands are really wide open, and I just started hitting him," Azariah said. "I was just kicking his butt. I didn't want him to put me in the truck and drive off."

Her dog, Aliya, joined in the fig and bit into the attacker's pants, Azariah said.

San Joaquin County deputies said another kidnapping attempt was reported in the same area a couple weeks earlier, and the suspect was driving a vehicle that matched the description from Saturday's attack -- an older white pickup truck.

The Mountain House School District is now warning all parents to not allow their kids walk alone.

Anyone who spots any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact authorities.
