Hats can do more than just keep your head warm. They always add flair to your look. This warm and wooly cabbie, or newsboy cap looks fresh and femme on Victoria Beckham. I found a few alternatives to the newsboy that add even more flair with a side bow. One is available at the Village Hat Shop, under the name of a Baker Girl and can be ordered online as well for around $30 bucks. A similar version was found for under $5 at a local Salvation Army.

Winter time is officially here so you can pull out and start wearing your Fair Isle knit sweater. Once indigenous to the Fair Isle of Scotland, this multi-colored traditional knitting technique is now used, and worn all over the world. It is a charming classic and deserves a spot in your sweater drawer. Fair Isle sweaters have been around for ages so you are bound to find a goodly selection of them at your local thrift store or consignment shop. Fair specimens of this sweet knit were found all over Sacramento, my favorites were spotted at French Cuff Consignment, Crimson & Clover and Thrift Town. Prices range from $50 bucks if you're lucky and $15-$5 bucks if you're even luckier.

Waxed jeans seem to be the "it" jean treatment of the year. Well, good thing this shiny jeans actually protect you from the elements so I, uh, I mean YOU can rationalize wearing something so trendy. Waxed denim is water and wind resistant, great qualities of a pant come wintertime. I'm not one to wear $200 jeans so I'm not going to recommend you do either, although I promise not to judge you IF you do. I found a great waxed denim jean for sale at Cuffs Urban Apparel with a $48 dollar price point I could not only live with, but happily wear. Look for secondhand versions at Freestyle Clothing Exchange, where they buy and sell clothing and are stockpiled with the latest trends.
Boots
Ah, the boots! Winter exists so we can wear boots. For this look, black-as-coal-leather to the knee boots is what you'd look for to tuck those trendy, waxy, skinny jeans into. So choose wisely. These boots are a good investment, but buying new ones can easily set you back a few hundred dollars. Again, this is where the second hand shops come in handy. You can find a gorgeous pair, fully set for wintry celebrity strolls at your neighborhood consignment shop or thrift store. The boots shown on the model are also from Cuffs and were priced at a heart-warming $55 dollars.
