Gas Leak In Downtown Sacramento Prompts Evacuations
4 p.m. UPDATE: Fire crews say a crew cleaning out a sewer in Downtown Sacramento struck an oddly placed gas line.
When the PG&E gas line was originally put into place, the utility drilled into the ground and through the sewer line. The crews working on Thursday struck the line, not expecting a gas line to be placed there.
I Street will remain closed and evacuations will remain in effect as crews sort out the scene.
