French Train Heroes With Sacramento Ties Land Book Deal
NEW YORK (CBS/AP) — The future career is being birthed for Anthony Sadler and his childhood friends Spencer Stone and Alek Skarlatos.
The three men with Sacramento ties who prevented a terrorist attack on a train from Brussels to Paris last summer now have a book deal.
The Perseus Books Group announced Wednesday it will publish "The 15:17 to Paris" by Anthony Sadler, National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos and Staff Sgt. Spencer Stone. The book is scheduled for August and will be co-authored by Jeffrey E. Stern.
Last August, the three Americans were vacationing together in Europe when they thwarted Ayoub El-Khazzani, a man who authorities said has ties to radical Islam and boarded the train with a Kalashnikov rifle, pistol and box cutter. Stone later survived a stabbing attack in his hometown of Sacramento, California, and was a guest last week of first lady Michelle Obama at the State of the Union address.
Anthony Sadler in November told CBS13 he's still trying to embrace the whole hero status, along with a possible new career in motivational speaking.
"It's been amazing," he said. "I couldn't guess we could have come back to this kind of reception," said Sadler. "We're all glad to be alive. Situations gives you a new perspective on life -- just glad to be here every day."
