Folsom Girl Qualifies For National Spelling Bee Finals

A local girl has made it into the top 10 at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland.

Twelve-year-old Snehaa Ganesh Kumar, who attends Folsom Middle School, will compete for the title of top speller tonight.

Only 49 of the original 283 top young spellers made it to the semifinals. They'll compete for more than $37,000 in cash and prizes.

You can watch the final round on ESPN beginning at 5 p.m. PT.

Congressman Ami Bera tweeted some encouraging words to Kumar.
