Fire In Sacramento County Started By Burning Roofing Debris

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) - The cause of a five-acre grass fire in Sacramento County was started by burning construction debris.

The fire began Tusday evening near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Roseville Road when a roofer noticed burning debris in the back of his truck. Concerned about the truck, he dumped the load on some gravel. Embers were blown to a nearby field and quickly spread.

The wind-driven fire charred five acres in total. Fortunately firefighters were able to put it out before it reached nearby storage boxes and a vehicle.

Metro Fire used a helicopter to spot the fire's movements.

Another fire started around the same time along Roseville Road and Palm Avenue.
