Fire Forces 8 People, Puppies From South Sacramento Home
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Eight people were forced from their South Sacramento home Monday morning after a fire broke out in the garage.
The fire happened in the 7700 block of 24th street. When they arrived, Sacramento Fire Department firefighters saw thick black smoke coming from the garage.
Firefighters rescued three full-size dogs out of the blaze, along with a basket full of puppies.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but one resident at the home a theory.
"Our house caught on fire due to…our heater. Electricity malfunction just super-heated up and burnt out and it caught the clothes on fire from us still trying to move in," said the man.
One person, a woman, was injured. She inhaled some smoke, but is expected to be OK.
