Fatal NYE Fall Ruled An Accident
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Sacramento County authorities have determined the death of a Stockton teen who fell from a bridge on New Year's Eve was accidental.
A coroner's office spokeswoman told the Stockton Record that Jonathan Michael Her died from multiple blunt force injuries caused by the fall.
The 19-year-old Her was waiting for a midnight fireworks show in Sacramento around 11:21 p.m. Friday when it's believed he tried to jump from the I Street Bridge to an adjoining bridge.
Her fell short of the adjoining bridge and fell to the pavement below. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident, however a final determination would not be made until toxicology tests are completed.
