Family Releases Balloons In Remembrance Of Baby Justice

WOODLAND (CBS13) – More than a month after his death, friends and family of Justice Rees gathered to remember the newborn at two events in Yolo County Saturday.

"I want justice for Justice. I want him to rest in peace and I don't want his death to have been in vain," said the infant's father Frank Rees.

The first event was held at Douglas Park in Woodland. Dozens of people released balloons into the sky as they fought back tears over the loss of the three-week-old.

At sunset, a candlelight vigil was held at the Knights Landing slough Justice's body was found back in February.

"If I have to spend the rest of my life making sure that this doesn't happen to one more kid, you know, if only one kid gets saved, then I'll feel good about myself," Frank said.

Justice's mother, 23-year-old Samantha Green, has since been charged with murder in connection to this death.

She is due back in court on April 13.
