Search Continues For Yuba City Couple Lost In El Dorado County

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13/AP) - Rescue crews have resumed searching for a missing couple who became stuck in snow while driving in a mountainous area of Northern California.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says a Rory and Susan Holloter, both in their in their 60s , were last heard from Sunday afternoon in the Wentworth Springs Area. They were planning to do some off-roading.

"If anyone has any information, maybe they overheard a conversation when they went out to breakfast this morning, as to where they were going, any help would be appreciated to narrow down the search area," said Sondra Winberry, Susan's sister.

Rory made calls to 911 but the calls got disconnected. He then texted his family. Officials say he has since apparently lost cell service.

El Dorado County sheriff's deputies are trying to track down the location of the text messages, but say it's a long process.

"We are trying to look at points last seen," said El Dorado County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Todd Hammit.

Family members say the couple had enough food to get them through the night, but are concerned about the dropping temperatures.

Officials say the California Highway Patrol Air Patrol is assisting with the search Monday morning.
