Overturned Big Rig Stalls Truckee Traffic After Colliding With 2 Vehicles

TRUCKEE (CBS13) – Traffic is blocked as far as central Truckee while crews continue to clean up a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig early Friday morning.

Authorities say a big rig hauling fruits and vegetables collided with two vehicles just before 3:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80.

One of the vehicles stalled on the interstate. Another vehicle pulled up behind to push it off the roadway when the accident occurred.

The collision sent one of the vehicles into a ditch, and the other spinning. The big rig's cab was flipped on its side while the trailer slid down an embankment. The truck also lost 30 gallons of fuel, which has been fully contained.

One of the drivers of the hit vehicles was air-lifted to a Reno hospital.

All lanes of eastbound Interstate 80 have been reopened.
