Sacramento police increasing downtown patrols as warmer weather arrives
SACRAMENTO – Increased police patrols are being initiated in downtown Sacramento as the weather heats up this season, police say.
On Tuesday, the Sacramento Police Department issued a statement that they had recently increased patrols in the downtown area to "help ensure everyone feels safe and welcome"
The department didn't cite any particular instigating event for the increased patrols, other than that warmer weather means more people heading downtown.
"Our officers are working closely with community partners to monitor trends, address concerns, and stay proactive in our efforts," Sacramento police stated.
Still, the change comes after a weekend that saw two people shot near the K Street tunnel in Old Sacramento.
Last week, Sacramento police also announced that officers were out in force to do a scooter rider enforcement sweep.
Police are also urging people to report any suspicious activity.
