Big Rig Drives Off Stockton Bridge, Killing Driver
STOCKTON (CBS13) – The westbound Highway 4 to northbound Interstate 5 connector was closed Friday afternoon following a deadly crash involving a big rig and another vehicle.
Around 2 p.m., the big rig was headed north on the bridge when it collided with a wood chipper, crashed through the guardrail, and plunged 50 feet to the ground. according to a CHP spokesperson. The driver of the big rig was killed.
"I heard a really loud bang and looked up at the overpass and the saw the nose of the semi come right off edge, through the guardrail and roll over in midair and land upside down," said Robert Means, who says he witnessed the crash.
