THE DEFENSE
Q: Hi Joyce! A Lexus says luxury. What do you use yours for?
A: Mainly to get back and forth to work. My worst part of my commute is that it takes me over an hour to go 20 miles!
Q: Yikes! And when you are not commuting, do you ever take fun road trips?
A: Los Angeles? Mainly, it's been to L.A. a lot. I guess San Diego. We went to Legoland in San Diego. My favorite day trip is the wine country. Napa. Up there, the Rutherford Hill Winery.
Q: Where did you buy your car? How many miles do you think are left in it?
A: I researched it online. Then I went to the local dealer for a test drive. I've had it since May 2008. I would say 100,000. I already have 74,000. I want a Chevy Tahoe because I want a big car again. A Chevy Tahoe FlexFuel or I'll get a Hyndai Sonata.
Q: Great. Now for some fun questions. When you rock out to music in your Lexus, what do you listen to?
A: Everything! I flip the channels. I have everything from books on tape to CDs and just the radio.
Q: Do you have any rules for the passengers?
A: Pick up your trash when you leave and no smoking.
Q: Fair enough. And what about a human emotion, if your car had one?
A: I'd say needy because it costs so much to fix it when it breaks!
Q: Really, is it that bad? Does it make the whole experience of owning a Lexus a negative one?
A: I would never buy one again. Just the general maintenance, you'd think it would be cheaper because it's a Toyota. Every time I had service, it would cost me. My 60,000-mile service was $1,000. Anytime I need service, it will cost $1,000 or more. If you're looking to buy that Lexus for economical reasons, it's not. It's a fun sports car, but it's not a good car to have on an everyday basis. It has staggered tires. It eats brakes. It is expensive to service!
