Davis Teen Seriously Hurt In Mob Attack

DAVIS, Calif. (CBS13) -- Police are trying to unravel the circumstances that led to a vicious and sustained beating of a teen at an apartment complex that lasted well after he had been rendered unconscious.

The family of 19-year-old Solomon David called on witnesses at the party at Avalon Apartments on Valdora Street to come forward with information on who attacked the victim on the pool deck at around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning.

"If you see someone laying on the ground and you continuously pound their head in… I mean, who does that?" said Michelle Jimenez, Solomon's mother.

The Davis Police Department said few people have offered information on the brawl, even though at least 200 people attended the party.

"We've made no arrests at this point, we haven't identified any suspects," said Lt. Paul Doroshove. "Don't really know what started the fight, what prompted the conflict."

Another victim was stabbed in the melee and suffered non-life threatening injuries, authorities said. David suffered far more serious injuries in the attack and was lucky to survive, Jimenez said.

The victim is clinging to life after suffering multiple fractures and severe head trauma.

"They could have killed him. I mean, that's what they were trying to do," she said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Davis Police Department.
