Coroner Identifies Suspect Killed By Sacramento Police Officer
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Sacramento County Coroner's Office on Sunday released the identity of the man accused of shooting a police dog in Land Park on Friday before he was fatally shot by the dog's partner.
Lucus J. Webb, 33, is accused of leading police on a chase that ended in gunfire in Land Park.
Officers say they tried to pull over the Chico resident after spotting him in what they believed to be a stolen car, but he fled at high speed and they called off the pursuit over safety concerns. Police caught up with Webb and his passenger again in Land Park where Webb reportedly ran from them into the back yard of a house in the 1100 block of Robertson Way.
Webb reportedly fired at officers and hit the K9, Bodie, several times. The K9's partner returned fire on Webb and he died at the scene.
Webb's passenger, Leslie McCulley, 28, also of Chico is behind bars at the Sacramento County Jail. She's charged with vehicle theft, receiving stolen property and discharging a firearm. She's scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday.
Bodie, a 4-year-old German shepherd, is in critical but stable condition at a Rancho Cordova animal hospital after multiple surgeries.
