Chuck E. Cheese Fined For Violating Child Labor Laws
SAN BRUNO (CBS 5) – Chuck E. Cheese aims to be friendly towards young kids, but the restaurant has been fined by the Department of Labor for violating child labor laws.
Investigators with the Labor Department found that nine locations violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by allowing employees under 18 to operate trash compactors and dough mixers.
The locations include Brentwood, Cupertino, Fairfield, Newark, Redwood City, Rohnert Park and San Bruno, along with two locations in San Jose.
The Texas-based restaurant chain was forced to pay $28,000 in fines. Chuck E. Cheese also restricted access and instructed underage employees not to use the potentially dangerous equipment
