Suspect Arrested After High Speed Chase On Highway 99

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – California Highway Patrol officers arrested a armed robbery suspect who led authorities back and forth between Sacramento and Galt on Highway 99 early Wednesday evening.

The chase began just after 6:00 p.m. when the driver of a pickup fled from authorities on Highway 99, heading south to Galt before turning around and driving back up to South Sacramento, reaching speeds of more than 80 miles an hour.

CHP officers deployed a spike strip, disabling the vehicle near Calvine Road and forcing the driver to pull over.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities believe the driver is one of the suspects who robbed a MetroPCS store on Power Inn Road on December 28 and shot a manager in the ankle.
