Chilly Conditions Expected Through Sunday
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The strong winds that battered Northern California for the past few days should back off Sunday, but a cold snap will keep residents bundled up throughout the weekend, according to forecasts.
Temperatures in the Sacramento Valley could dip close to freezing overnight, with patches of frost possible through the region and high temperatures that likely won't crawl up much further than the 60 degree mark.
Winds gusted to more than 35 miles per hour on Saturday, but forecasts for Sunday show conditions calming down to about 10 miles per hour with the potential for 25 mile per hour gusts. The high winds have toppled trees and fueled six wildfires in the El Dorado County National Forest, and Sunday's low humidity is expected to make life even more difficult and dangerous for firefighters.
Participants in the California International Marathon said they were preparing late Saturday night for a cold race Sunday morning.
