Car Crash Damages 3 Homes In Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) -- It was a wild scene in Citrus Heights on Thursday afternoon after a speeding vehicle damaged three properties and sent one man to the hospital.

The SUV was traveling in excess of 70 mph when it drove through the front chain-link fence of the first house in the 8100 block of Sunnyplace Drive, launched off a tree stump into and through a second house's garage and then through another fence and into the side of a third home's garage before it finally came to rest.

"From what it looks like when it hit the stump, it never came back on the ground until it hit the neighbor's garage," said Alfred Enlow, who lives in the first house.

Enlow's grandfather had to be hospitalized after going into shock after witnessing the accident.

"My grandpa was at home sitting in his chair by the fireplace (when the SUV zoomed by)," Enlow said.

Sara Knudsen's house was also in the line of fire. "And the first thing that went through my mind was 'Are my kids OK?'"

They were, and so was the driver. He walked away from the accident.

"It was amazing he walked away," Knudsen said. "He was one lucky guy."
