Light Rail Train Collides With Car In Downtown Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A light rail train collided with a vehicle in downtown Sacramento on Thursday.
According to a Sacramento City Fire official, five people were injured in the accident at 10th and O streets, which happened at about 11:40 a.m. One person was trapped in the vehicle, a BMW sedan, and firefighters had to cut off the roof of the car to free the man, who was taken away in a stretcher with moderate injuries.
The train dragged the BMW until it was pinned up against a tree.
The BMW also hit a Toyota Corolla, whose driver also was injured. Three train passengers also complained of injuries.
Traffic was blocked off in the area and also at K between Eighth and 12th streets to allow other Regional Transit trains to switch tracks.
