UPDATED: Power Restored After West Sacramento Transformer Blew Up

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Several people in West Sacramento are without power in the heat after a transformer blew out and started a small fire.

Residents say they heard a loud pop and then saw smoke coming from a transformer box on Solano Street. A small fire burnt out on its own and did not damage any homes nearby.

Fire crews were on scene making sure people stayed clear of the area.

Neighbors tried to stay cool while they waited for PG&E crews to turn their power back on.

"Hopefully they get this fixed up, because we'd hate to be here in the night sleeping outside. It's a real hot day," resident Jose Abrago said.

Power was restored around 6 p.m.
