Also at the Crocker, another exhibit -- this time focusing on the drawings of a trio of bay area, mid-century artists. In 1953, painters David Park, Elmer Bischoff, and Richard Diebenkorn began a series of meetings to draw using live models for inspiration. This approach placed the bay area scene as one of the top scenes in America. "Back to Life: Bay Area Figurative Drawings" recounts those days.

Gregory Kondos is a household name among the West's foremost landscape artists. A world traveller, Kondos spent over 40 years traveling around the world painting landscapes in places like Yosemite Valley, the French countryside and the islands of Greece. His works include paintings of the Sacramento Delta, and have placed him among the modern classic artists that boldly capture the area's sweeping beauty.

Talk about looking at classic art through new eyes, some very well-known classical portraits take on another dimension in "Traditions Transfigured: The Noh Masks of Bidou Yamaguchi." Yamaguchi takes famous portraits (e.g. the Mona Lisa) and makes three-dimensional masks inspired by Japanese Noh Theater. The new twist is not only intrinsically familiar but revolutionary. Housed in the beautiful setting of the Sac State Library.

Every modern cultural enthusiast knows the father of pop art, Andy Warhol. The Crocker sets to highlight his portraiture drawings, in "Andy Warhol: Portraits." He's one of the most known and celebrated Post WWII American artists, famously painting portraits of the most influential people in Hollywood's elite club. Come see the legend's greatest portraits.
