Audio: The Don Geronimo Show - October 6, 2011
Today, the guys welcome the newest member of the show, and Don's old buddy, Slow Joe Ardinger! Don starts by talking about how Joe got started with Don on the Don and Mike Show, and how Don and Joe worked together for 9 years! Slow Joe also tells us about his trip across the country with his dog Chip, and the weirdest places he drove through on the way here. The Sacramento Airport opened a new terminal today, and for some reason, the lame people of Sacramento are making a ridiculously huge deal about it. Don has our good friend Suzette (a.k.a. Miss Lucky Button) go out there to report on the scene, and interview the people who got up early just to hang out at an airport.
The guys also spend a good amount of time talking about the passing of Steve Jobs, the brilliant founder of Apple. The guys discuss how the visionary made computers easily usable for the common man, and how his inventions, such as the iPod, iPad, and iPhone have changed technology and communications so dramatically, and in such a positive way. The guys all agree that Steve Jobs was a great American, and will be greatly missed by so many people.
Suzette then calls in the show to do her reporting at the Sacramento Airport, and interview the people out there. The texters throw questions out to Don to ask her, as do the guys on the show. Some people have been there since 4am, and some reporters have even been there since midnight! After an entire segment with Miss Lucky Button, comedian Amy Schumer, who just performed at the Charlie Sheen Roast, stops by for an interview.Amy is performing at the Punchline in San Francisco this week. She talks about doing the roast, her boyfriend Anthony Jeselnik, who also performed at the roast, and her worst gigs ever. She also does an intro for Phantom's news hour!
After playing "Make Joe Ardinger Laugh," we hear more tapes of Michael Jackson doped up, to which Don combines with drugged up Elvis tapes, the "No No" cat, and the "Batman" dog. It's then time for the "Phantom News Hour." Among the topics today, the Cupertino gunmen from yesterday was killed by police today, the passing of Steve Jobs, a squirrel that ran onto the field at the Phillies/Cardinals playoff game, and O.J. starting a prison football team. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
