Audio: The Don Geronimo Show - October 28, 2011
Today on The Don Geronimo Show, Phantom still needs a costume for tomorrow's Exotic Halloween Ball, so Don asks the costume stores in Sacramento if they can help out. Don also wants dogs at the station on Halloween dressed up to parade around for the show. Don then gets into a story he read about Clear Channel Communications laying off their DJ's and replacing them with automated programming. Don talks about how wrong that is for radio, taking the personality out of it and generalizing every station. Don also tells us a few of his best stories about the pranks he would pull at WNDY AND JB105 years ago. We then hear a story about a man firebombing a Taco Bell for not putting enough meat in his Chalupa, and Dave tells his story about the FBI interrogating him when he was a kid about a fire at a local Burger King.
We then get another visit from our friend, comedian Frank Caliendo. Frank talks about how his impersonation of John Madden has awakened everybody to Madden's man crush on Brett Favre. He also talks about his days on Frank TV, and working on The NFL on FOX. After playing one of Frank's classic Madden sketches from MAD TV, and a clip of Regis taking off his shirt in front of Snooki, we hear St. Louis Cardinal manager Tony LaRussa dropping the S-bomb during his press conference last night. Don then makes his weekly phone call to Green Bay. The guy at the Lion's Den adult store is a bit more pleasant today. Don also calls Kathryn at Bretty Favre's Steakhouse, who is also happy to hear from us.
It is then time to play "Bark For Cash" with the listeners. This time around, the winner gets Exotic Ball tickets as well as cash. Don then plays a series of Halloween parodies from the show prep website we subscribe to. Among the parodies are songs in the style of Michael Jackson, Maroon 5, and our favorite, Neil Diamond. We then go into the "Phantom News Hour." Today, Phantom talks about the Occupy Wall St. movement going to New York banks to protest, the most unhealthy Halloween candy, what costumes to wear when picking up women, and the upcoming movie releases for this weekened. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
