Audio: Don Geronimo Show - October 20, 2011
Today, Don begins with the death of Libyan dictator Muammar Ghadafi, and asks what is the correct way to spell his name, seeing how some news sites spell it with a "Q." Don also mentions that Ghadafi, because he was evil, does not complete the Steve Jobs/Al Davis trifecta. We then hear about the new cast for Celebrity Apprentice, which, among others, has Clay Aiken, Arsenio Hall, Lisa Lampanelli, and Paul Teutul Sr. Don also tells us that there is a good chance the show will be doing a remote in L.A. for the big celebrity boxing event starring Joey Buttafuoco. Wayne Newton will be opening his home to the public as a museum in February, and Don is very excited! He even suggests doing a remote in Las Vegas at the singer's home.
After playing a tape of Wayne Newton hitting on Michelle Bachmann on the Greta Van Susteren show, and Norm MacDonald talking about how Lorne Michaels considered having a female co-host with Norm for Weekend Update on SNL, Don calls up the Paula Deen Retail Store in Savannah, GA. to ask them about her "butter flavored lip balm." Then a loyal listener stops by to give Doni a couple movie posters, one of Fatso, and one of North Dallas Forty. Don then calls in Craig and Little Joe to have them show us their new game, in which Craig does his Bill Cosby impersonation and tries to stay in character while Joe hits him in the head with a boxing glove. Joe Ardinger has a new Twitter page, and that gets the guys on a discussion of why they love the social networking site so much. They all also agree that they like Twitter more than Facebook.
A study from Boise St. has determined that 60% of women are attracted to other women, so Don yells across the hall to Julie from the Pat and Tom Show on KNCI to ask her if she is. She is. We also hear Bryant Gumbel's rant on NBA commissioner David Stern, and clips from the Zanesville, OH tragedy. Don then calls in Craig again for another edition of "Craig Calls Celebrities." Today, Craig calls Pat Benatar, Chris Burke and even Abe Vigoda, who cuts a new intro for the "Phantom News Hour!"
The guys then jump right into the "Phantom News Hour," and among the topics today: the death of Ghadafi, Lindsay Lohan arriving late to the morgue today to serve her community services sentence, President Obama being on Leno next Tuesday, and permits for Sacramento marijuana shops being suspended. And of course, Doni wraps everything up with a caller 100!
