Arson Suspected In Blaze At Sheldon High School
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Fire officials say a fire that broke out at a Sacramento high school early Wednesday morning was intentionally set.
Sacramento Metro Fire crews were called to Sheldon High School on Kingsbridge Drive just after 3:30 a.m. for reports of a structure fire.
They arrived to find the outside of one of the portable classroom on fire. It took 24 firefighters only 10 minutes to put out the flames.
"There's nothing near that corner of the building that looks like it may have caused the fire, electrical or anything like that, so it was probably set," said Sac Metro Fire Chief Rich Griggs.
School officials say classes will go on as scheduled Wednesday on campus.
"We'll get this cleaned up. Our maintenance department does an amazing job," said Sheldon High principal Paula Duncan. "They'll have this cleaned up before the kids walk on campus. They'll have it boarded up. They'll have it swept up,"
Damage is estimated to be $40,000.
No injuries were reported.
The fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Fire at (916) 859-4300.
