5 Best Places To Avoid The Super Bowl In Sacramento
If you live in America, there's a good chance you're aware of the Super Bowl quickly approaching. It's only the world's biggest television event of the year, there's an entire week devoted to pre-Super Bowl festivities and this one in a few weeks will be the biggest ever for the 50th anniversary.
While the U.S. revolves around the Super Bowl on Feb. 7, what do those who want to avoid it do on a Sunday afternoon?
Luckily for those fearless ones living in Sacramento, there will be plenty of weekend activities available far away from any crowded bar or restaurant with a TV on.
Here are Sacramento's five best activities to do during the Super Bowl:
5. Watch Movies
Look, the movies are always open with at least a few films you have yet to see. Why not cut a big chunk of your day watching a couple movies during the big game? Star Wars has been out for a few weeks, so that will be a good time for the few people who haven't seen it yet to get a nice empty theater to themselves. Sorry, Deadpool and Zoolander 2 won't be out in theaters until the following week, but there will still be Ride Along 2 and Dirty Grandpa available to check out.

4. Go Outside
This may seem obvious, but there aren't many TV's outside. If you want to avoid a TV, hey, take a walk outside. If you live near a park, hiking trail or river, take advantage of it if weather permits. If you're looking to avoid large crowds, long lines and crowded rooms, ditch the Super Bowl party and roam free like the animal you are.
Do you like the snow? Lake Tahoe is only a little more than an hour away from Sacramento, take the family or a group of other non-football fans out to the snow for a ski day or just a day to play around in the snow. Traffic shouldn't be a hassle and any lines at the ski resorts should be minimal. Enjoy the great outdoors.
3. Take a Trip To The Museum
Want to distract yourself for a few hours? Head to a museum or two to miss the game.
The California State Train Museum is located in the heart of Old Sacramento and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kids under 5 are admitted for free, while adults are $10 and ages 6-17 are only $5. While you may not miss the whole game by 5 p.m., you can miss a significant chunk of the game and then go watch a movie., Feel free to combine activities as well.

2. Go To The Zoo
Do you hate pigskins but love pigs? Great, go check out the Sacramento Zoo during the Super Bowl. Be sure to get there well before hand, there are hundreds of animals to check out before the 5 p.m. closing time.
If you have kids, they will love interacting with all types of animals. From leaping lemurs to hungry for lettuce giraffes, there's always hours of activities inside the zoo. Tickets are relatively cheap too, ranging from $7.75 to $10.75 per person.

1. Girls'/Guys' Night In
Stay home and stay away from watching live TV or staying on the internet. Disconnect yourself and throw a little party for you and your friends.
Maybe put a movie on the TV or play a game with some friends. If you really want to go all out, maybe have it be a costume party where guests dress up as their favorite old Super Bowl commercial character. Try to DVR the game and just watch the commercials if that's what you fancy. There are tons of activities to do without live TV or Super Bowl craziness.
If you're really down to party, flip the channel to Animal Planet for the Puppy Bowl - that's where the fun is at.
