UPDATE: Elk Grove Fatal Crash Victims Identified

ELK GROVE (CBS13) — The female driver and her male passenger who were killed Tuesday night after her car veered into oncoming traffic and broadsided another car were identified by the coroner's office on Wednesday as Elk Grove residents.

Ashley Simpson, 21, and Christopher Ragosa, 34, were invovled in an accident on Kammerer Road near McMillan Road at about 5:41 p.m. on Tuesday. The 1991 Ford Mustang Simpson was driving crossed into eastbound traffic and hit a 2003 Ford Focus. The Mustang flipped, landed in a ditch and both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Simpson was partially ejected from the car.

The driver of the Focus was alert and responsive when police arrived. He was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

Kammerer Road was shut down for more than five hours during the police investigation. Police say it's too early in the investigation to determine whether drugs or alcohol was involved.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
