1 dead in San Joaquin County crash on Kasson Road

At least one person has died after an early morning crash on San Joaquin County on Thursday.

The crash was first reported just before 4 a.m. along Kasson Road, south of Durham Ferry Road.

Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but it appears that a vehicle crashed into a power pole. The vehicle then caught fire and was engulfed in flames.

California Highway Patrol says several passerbys tried to get the driver out of the car, but couldn't due to the fire. 

Medics later pronounced the driver dead at the scene. No other details about the person have been released.

Due to the crash and investigation, Kasson Road was closed through the early morning hours.
