Egg Hatching Complete, First Eaglet Arrives In Hays Bald Eagles' Nest

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The first eaglet has arrived in the Hays bald eagles' nest.
According to the Audubon Society, the egg started to hatch Friday morning.
Officials say the hatching was completed at 10:01 p.m.

The eagles were caring for three eggs, but one broke earlier this month.
Bald eagle eggs take about 35 days to hatch. The first egg was scheduled to hatch on or around March 20.
Last year, the Hays eagles successfully raised one eaglet, which fledged on June 15, 2017. It marked the end of a tough year for the eagles after the tree their nest had been in was toppled over in a storm.
