With a networth of $76 billion, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is back on top of the list of the world's richest people after a four-year hiatus.

Forbes magazine announced its ranking of the world's billionaires Monday.

#2 Carlos Slim Helu

Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helu, now in second place, had topped the list for the past four years. His net worth is estimated at $72 billion.

Spanish clothing magnate Amancio Ortega, known for the Zara retail chain, is valued at $64 billion.

Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett is worth $58.2 billion.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison comes in fifth on Forbes' list, with a net worth of $48 billion.
