Globular star cluster NGC 6934 itself lies about 50,000 light-years away in the constellation Delphinus. The cluster stars are estimated to be some 10 billion years old.
The spiral galaxy NGC 26 is 20 million light-years away in the northern constellation of the Cat (Lynx). Starlight silhouettes the dust lanes along winding spiral arms, dotted with the telltale blue glow of young star clusters in this galaxy's star forming regions.
A recent reanalysis of seismometers left on the moon by the Apollo moon landings revealed 28 moonquakes were detected in data recorded between 1972 and 1977. What caused the moonquakes remains unknown. In the accompanying image from 1969, Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin stands beside a recently deployed lunar seismometer, looking back toward the lunar landing module.
Ohio State University astronomers discovered a giant supernova smothered in its own dust. In the accompanying rendering, an outer shell of gas and dust obscures the supernova within.
Dark bands on Saturn displayed on an image taken by the Saturn-orbiting Cassini spacecraft. These rings segments appear dark because they are in the shadow of Saturn.Hubble Legacy Archive, ESA, NASAHubble Legacy Archive, ESA, NASA
The Clouds of Magellan, about 180,000 light-years away in the constellation Dorado. Spanning about 15,000 light-years or so, it is the most massive of the Milky Way's satellite galaxies

Smog over China. In early October 2010, a high-pressure weather system settled in over eastern China, and air pollution began to accumulate locally for nearly a week.
