Sneak Peek At Emmy Party

"Moonlight and Romance" will be the theme of this year's 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Governors Ball, which will take place on Aug. 27 in Los Angeles. A sneak peek of the event's run-through took place July 27, 2006.

"I like to think of the linen as the gown or tuxedo, and the flowers as the jewelry," event producer Cheryl Cecchetto said during the sneak peek. The linen tablecloths specially made for the event will be a petal pink doupioni silk, and the flowers will be bouquets of Titanic roses and pink hydrangeas.

More than 5,000 champagne flutes were rented for the event, which is expected to entertain 2,800 guests.

The Governors Ball will be held in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium, which will be made to feel like a "garden on a cool evening." The exhibition hall will feature 32- to 40-foot diameter silk oak trees hung with crystal chandeliers, and a 7-foot wide "full moon."

China and goblets rimmed with platinum will be used for the event, along with silver flatware.

Vases of flowers and pink tapered candles are the centerpieces of the tables. The event's design was inspired by Dorothy Draper, a mid-century interior designer known for her love of the color pink.

The menu for the evening will consist of stuffed avocado with shrimp, Dungeness crab and a "sprouting salad" for the appetizer. The main course is roast fillet mignon with field mushrooms, roasted shallot and a red wine sauce. For dessert, chocolate mousse made with Dove chocolate served with soft caramel and banana-thyme cr

"They say it takes a village to raise a child -- and it takes a city to put on an event," Cecchetto said, referring to the 1,200 on-site personnel who will be attending to guests during the Governors Ball, which will take place Aug. 27 in Los Angeles.

In addition to the table design, the "Moonlight and Romance" theme will be accented by the music of the Ray Anthony Orchestra, which will play on a revolving bandstand surrounded by faux concrete fountains and a black-and-white chessboard dance floor.

Bouquets of Titanic roses and pink hydrangeas will sit in black baroque vases trimmed with ivy atop each of the tables at the event.

The "Moonlight and Romance" of the Governors Ball will take place Aug. 27, directly after the evening's Primetime Emmy awards.
