All this week on "The Early Show," weather anchor and features reporter Dave Price is training in the "Edge of the Earth" series to go up in a U-2 spy plane for what is called "a high flight."
Unlike Any Other
The U-2 spy plane, also known as the "Dragon Lady," is unique because no other plane flies higher.
Flying with the Angels
At one time, Dave, a licensed pilot, flew with the acrobatic Blue Angels.
A View to Remember
Dave said on the "The Early Show," "I've loved flying since the first time I went up in the sky when I was 8 years old. I've flown in almost every kind of aircraft -- and now I'm licensed to fly myself. There is nothing like the view from the sky -- and that's what will make this trip so extraordinary."
Almost an Astronaut
Major Luke Lukowich, a U-2 pilot, told Dave, "You're going to be the highest guy on Earth on Thursday."
Prep for Takeoff
Dave said on "The Early Show" he'll be undergoing a barrage of tests this week. The flight requires a full spacesuit and oxygen, because of thin air at that altitude.
Fulfilling a Dream
Dave wrote in his blog: "To CBS, it's an interesting story that will grip your attention -- to me, it's the fulfillment of a childhood dream. I hope you enjoy the week ahead as much as I will."
