The artist, writer, director and producer of acclaimed
animated films, who also co-founded Studio Ghibli in Tokyo, is among this
year's recipients of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences' Governors
Awards, presented on November 8, 2014.
In addition to "Spirited Away" and the
Oscar-nominated "Howl's Moving Castle" and "The Wind
Rises," Miyazaki's films include "Castle in the Sky,"
"Kiki's Delivery Service," "My Neighbor Totoro,"
"Princess Mononoke" and "Ponyo."
