Norway's King Harald is surrounded by soldiers during an inspection of The Norwegian Royal Guard in Oslo. The Royal Guard was founded in 1856 when King Oscar I decided to have a company of Norwegian guards to underline his status at king of both Norway and Sweden. On Norway's independence in 1905, the company became the guards unit for King Haakon VII.
