Even Jack Nicholson was taken aback by Lara Flynn Boyle's pink tutu outfit at the Golden Globes. "Lara's tutu was startling," said Nicholson, who noted his on-again, off-again girlfriend is a former dancer. "I slipped out for a cigarette and I saw her from the back. I wasn't sure it was her."
Lara's ballerina outfit was a hit with at least one other Hollywood star: Kim Cattrall of "Sex and the City," who won the Globe for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, mini-series or motion picture made for television.
No poufy pink tutus for actress Sharon Stone. She strutted down the red carpet in daring black leather.
Black also was the color of choice for Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore black pants with a black corset top that she sometimes covered with a jacket. She attended the ceremony with her husband, actor Matthew Broderick. They are the parents of an infant son.
Another showbiz couple, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, also made the scene.
James Gandolfini, who was nominated for best performance by an actor in a television series/drama for his work in "The Sopranos," arrived with an unidentified companion. (He lost the trophy to Michael Chiklis for "The Shield.")
Visibly pregnant, Catherine Zeta-Jones wore a black gown with illusion sleeves that was custom-made by Donatella Versace. She was escorted by her husband, actor Michael Douglas. She was nominated for her performance in "Chicago" but lost to co-star Renee Zellweger.
The straps of Halle Berry's sky blue dress had small beaded flowers. She opted for an old Hollywood glamour look.
Nia Vardalos was nominated for best performance by an actress in a motion picture-musical or comedy for her work in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." She lost to "Chicago"'s Renee Zellweger.
Debra Messing wore an ivory-colored sleeveless gown by Vera Wang with layers of sheer fabric cascading down the bodice to form a plunging V that led into a beaded waistline. Messing was nominated for best performance by an actress in a television series-musical or comedy for her work in "Will & Grace." (Jennifer Aniston won in that category.)
Queen Latifah, nominated for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a motion picture for her work in "Chicago," lost to Meryl Streep ("Adaptation"). The Queen wore turquoise-and-white pants by Escada that also featured a floral design.
British actress Helen Mirren was nominated for best performance by an actress in a mini-series or a motion picture made for television for her work in "Door to Door." The winner in that category was Uma Thurman ("Hysterical Blindness").
Shirley MacLaine also was nominated for best performance by an actress in a mini-series or a motion picture made for television for her work in "Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay."
Actress and singer Beyonce Knowles shows off her jewelry as she arrives for the 60th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Knowles was one of the belles of the ball in a strapless gown that featured floral embroidery at the bust and a full skirt.
