The 2011 NFL season is now just hours away. And on the attitude scale the Eagles seem to be more than ready. They've spent a lot this off-season to acquire new players and new coaches and their stamp of approval seems to be justified in the locker room.
Chaz Powell set the tone by returning the game's opening kickoff 95 yards for a score and Silas Redd led an overwhelming ground game with two rushing touchdowns in Penn State's 41-7 win over Indiana State on Saturday.
Coach Joe Paterno today declined to name a starter for Saturday's season opener against Indiana State, other than saying that both Rob Bolden and Matt McGloin would play.
Tailback Silas Redd and linebacker Khairi Fortt -- a powerful one-two punch of former top prep prospects from Connecticut -- could give Penn State a big boost this fall.
Joe Paterno and Urban Meyer met at midfield for a postgame handshake and hug after Meyer's Gators came back from a second-half deficit to beat JoePa's Nittany Lions 37-24 in the Outback Bowl on Saturday.
Matt McGloin threw for 315 yards and two scores, James Van Fleet returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, and Penn State found the nation's capital to be a satisfactory home away from home Saturday as they beat Indiana 41-24.
Joe Paterno has notched his 400th career victory -- giving the man at the helm of Penn State football more wins than any other major college coach in the country.
A big weekend of college football highlighted by JoePa going for win number 400.
