Woman's Body Found In Montgomery County Cornfield

By Brad Segall, Jenn Bernstein

NEW HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- The body of a white female was found "laying in a remote section of hedgerow, adjacent to a cornfield," off Little Road in Perkiomenville, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's office.

Mark Slater, who owns the family farm, discovered the body while cutting grass Wednesday morning.
"Never did you think you'd find, what I found," said Slater, who remained shaken. "I was thinking it was a mannequin…it just shocked me."

On Wednesday, crime scene tape surrounded the field as the District Attorney's office and New Hanover Township Police collected evidence and tried to piece together the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

Slater said the body had a tattoo, and he saw evidence that a vehicle, at some point, was possibly driven near the body.

"I seen wheel tracks when I cut the hay trying to hide there," said Slater. He also believes the tracks appear to back out to a nearby road. For those in this town, it is a disturbing discovery, especially in what is normally peaceful farmland.

"This area is very quiet, it's a lot of open fields and woods," said neighbor Amber Boalton.

The DA's office says the cause and manner of death will be determined after an autopsy. They are still in the process of identifying the woman.
