Woman Attacked By Man Wielding Two-By-Four
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man is in custody after police say he attacked a young woman with a two-by-four on a busy Philadelphia street.
It happened around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday near Broad and Spring Garden Streets.
Police say the 18 year-old woman was walking on the north side of Spring Garden Street toward Broad Street when the suspect hit her on the head from behind with a two-by-four, knocking her to the ground. He whacked her on the arm several times before taking off, dropping the piece of lumber as he ran west on Spring Garden Street.
The suspect was chased and caught by officers who happened to be nearby.
The victim was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where she's listed in stable condition.
There was no word on a motive.
