Wildwood Officials Still Considering Extended Bar Hours
Officials in Wildwood, NJ are once again considering a plan to allow bars in town to operate around the clock during tourist season.
KYW's David Madden reports that the idea first surfaced last month as city commissioners considered extending last call from 3am to 4am. Bar owners insist that's not enough, but year round residents are concerned about crowd control.
Mayor Gary DeMarzo convinced his colleagues to put off a final vote that had been scheduled for Wednesday night for further study -- perhaps a trial run:
"A special event permit would then control the event, the personnel, the additional police necessities there and then at each step then look back and say, 'hey it's working, it's not working.'"
His thought: begin the test runs mid-week when party crowds are down a bit.
