What's Under The Eagles' Christmas Tree?
By Pat Gallen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's been a weird season for the Philadelphia Eagles, but there are still presents under the Bird's tree this Christmas.
The biggest and best gift is Fletcher Cox. The big defensive lineman has been a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks all year and was named to his first Pro Bowl earlier this week.
"I was pumped about it, really excited," Cox said. "My teammates were really excited to see it happen."
There's always a tiny package that packs a big punch. That present is Darren Sproles -- the gift that keeps on giving. He, too, was named to a Pro Bowl for the second time with the Birds.
The lump of coal in the Eagles stocking this year has been DeMarco Murray. While he says he's the same back from a year ago when he rushed for over 1,800 yards with the Cowboys, he has not lived up to his $40-million contract.
The Eagles haven't utilized him well either.
"You know, I can't worry about how many plays I'm getting," Murray said, "I can only control what I can control. Whenever I get in I just have to make the best of it."
What the Eagles are most thankful for this holiday season is the bad NFC East, because at 6-8, the Birds still have a shot at winning the division.
