Victim Tries To Drive To Hospital After North Philly Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say a man tried to drive himself to the hospital after he was shot Thursday morning in North Philadelphia.

This happened just after 3 a.m. on the 1000 block of West Tioga Street.

Police say someone with an assault rifle fired at the 53-year-old victim, who police later found passed out after he crashed his SUV into a fire hydrant on the 3300 block of Old York Road.

The victim was taken to Temple Hospital in critical condition with two gunshot wounds to the thigh. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Witnesses say they saw the victim driving the wrong way on a one-way street before he was shot.

Police are hoping surveillance video will help them catch the suspect as an investigation continues.
