Union Beat Nor'easters 2-1 In Open Cup
CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — The Philadelphia Union advanced to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup by defeating the Ocean City Nor'easters 2-1 Tuesday night on a stoppage time goal from Brian Carroll.
The Union next plays at D.C. United, also of MLS.
Carroll's goal came just after Nor'easters forward Emmanuel Kollie evened the match 1-1, finishing off a scramble in the goal box and squeezing the ball inside the near goal post.
A 49th minute goal from Jack McInerney, who calmly placed a ball past goalkeeper Brian Billings off a cross by Sebastian Le Toux, had given Philadelphia the lead.
