WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS)—Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan announced the arrest of Thy-Shawn Thompson and William Simpson for an attempted homicide in West Chester Borough.
On October 2nd at approximately 9:50 p.m., the West Chester Police Department responded to a call of shots fired.
According to witnesses, numerous gun shots could be heard throughout the area and they saw Thompson holding a silver gun near the intersection of Chestnut and New Streets.
Thompson then reportedly turned to Simpson and said, "I told you I would shoot [the victim.]"
Both suspects then fled into Thompson's residence and later ran out of the back over wooden fences.
West Chester Police apprehended the defendants fleeing over the fences. The police located the silver gun in a yard behind the residences on North New Street.
In a statement to the police, Simpson claimed that he did not know Thompson or the victim and had no knowledge of the shooting. However, when the police went to seize Simpson's clothes to process them for gunshot residue, a shell casing fell out of Simpson's clothes that matched the shell casings from the scene.
Police ran a check on the recovered firearm and discovered it was reported stolen in 2012.
This investigation was conducted by the West Chester Police Department and the Chester County Detectives. Good Will Fire Company No. 2 also provided assistance during the investigation.
